Local leaders honored at awards banquet

A highlight of the GACC annual meeting is the recognition of the heroes and leaders that work each day to make our community a better place. The award categories speak to each sort of service -- both professional and volunteer, veteran leaders of the city and young people just getting involved in community service. Grayson I-64 overpass project complete

The last of the signs have been hoisted into place, signalling the completion of renovations to Grayson's interstate overpass. The bridge that carries 1 & 7 traffic over Interstate 64 has been redesigned and reconstructed to support six lanes. The traffic flow has been greatly improved as the wider bridge, enhanced exit ramps and dual turn lanes to the interstate are much better suited to the busy Grayson interchange and will serve the city well in the years to come.

Chamber site back online after IP changes

The Grayson Chamber website disappeared from the net for several weeks when the company that provided the site space went out of business. The Chamber's web pages were hosted along with the Grayson Area Tourism Commission's site on a server secured by the Tourism Commission. Both sites were effected when the provider, Hosting Plans dissolved. Both sites have new homes with HostWay services and after some adjustements to web addresses and link checks, they should be back in running order.

Gibson named to Executive Secretary post

The busy duties of the Grayson Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Secretary position are now in the hands of Orathy Messer Gibson. Gibson, who also heads a grant writing committee for the chamber, hopes that she will be able to research, write and secure the grants that will enable the Chamber to assemble the resources it will need in the coming years. As more communities and counties band together to secure a firm economic future for their citizens, embracing a "regionalism" to reach common goals, it will be imperative for the GACC to present itself at the forefront of Eastern Kentucky business areas.
