Summer Bash target set at $200,000+

It's going to be a very busy February as tickets go on sale for a blockbuster event for Carter County. Then, in September, the GACC and the Carter County Fair Board will be hosting a gathering of over 8,000 people from all over the country as they await the results of a day-long drawing that will encompass $600,000 in prizes. The groups plan to sell 10,000 tickets at $100 each to raise much needed funds for community development projects -- the first of which would be the beginnings of a Recreation Park Complex for the county. Call the Chamber office at 474-4401 for details on how to get involved.

Renaissance committee gears up in 2003

The purpose of the Renaissance Kentucky project is to ensure that the charm and quality of business life and hometown culture that exists in our cities is preserved and encouraged to grow. The plans are multi-phased and can entail anything from selecting a theme for downtown renovation and rejuvination to creating and promoting events that will bring people back into the heart of our beautiful city. What would your hope for the look and feel of our downtown area? Glass and chrome or vintage Norman Rockwell Americana? Why not attend the next meeting and be part of the planning process? Check the Chamber Calendar for the next meeting date and info.
